Glossary of terms


Here is a glossary of some anatomical and medical terms that will be important to your understanding of OAB.

A simple definition of the terms and some related facts are provided.

Incontinence

The unintentional loss of urine. It is the sudden strong urge to urinate that is hard to delay.

Multiple
Sclerosis

A disease of the central nervous system. Patients may suffer numbness, weakness, loss of muscle coordination, and problems with vision, speech, and bladder control.

Parkinson's
disease

A progressive neurological disease. Patients often have muscle weakness and difficulty in muscle coordination. Often diagnosed in older patients.

Alzheimer's
disease

A progressive neurological disease of the brain that leads to impairment in memory and judgment. Often diagnosed in older patients.

Stroke

An interruption of the blood supply to any part of the brain and is sometimes called a 'brain attack'.
